Aya Mural

This piece was commissioned by Carrie Johnson, the owner of Aya Yoga Oasis in Burien, WA. Located inside, it is visible through the windows on 2nd Ave SW.

This mural is inspired by two PNW native plants: camas lilies and ferns. These two plants are significant historically and symbolically. Camas is an important plant in many Washington state indigenous communities and is harvested for food, trade, and traditional ceremonies. Ferns are ubiquitous in PNW ecology and they symbolize strength and resilience in many culture around the world.
